Invocation

I’m out of town right now for a conference, and was not able to sit and watch the entire inauguration yesterday. I did get to stop for a moment and catch a portion. It happened to be right when Pastor Rick Warren got up to pray. I was really moved by two particular parts. When he wove in the “Lord’s Prayer” as Jesus taught us how we should pray, and when Rick prayed this all in the many names of Jesus. Not the many universal names that different religions use for god, but all in the name of Jesus. What a witness for Christ. Very moving for me. Was it moving for you?

What moved me was that Rick Warren was even there! God used that moment to allow a man who loves Him to pray for our country–Everything works to Gods glory, even the choice for who offers the prayer on inauguration day! To have a man who loves the Lord pray for our country and to do so boldly for God in a time where people need to hear it is so moving in itself. Knowing that God is capable of taking those words and planting seeds that can now grow for harvest later is even more moving.
