Songs I Sang On Sunday

I was tinkering with my Guild Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar and 69′ Fender Band Master amp this week & my Sans Amp pedal and it made me want to lead this last sunday with it. And with that in mind, here is the set I came up with; first three songs electric , last three acoustic:

All Creatures Of Our God & King- Hymn
Grace- Phil Wickham
Be The Centre- Michael Frye
(sermon)
I Will Rise- Tomlin, Giglio, Cash & Reeves
Agnus Dei- Michael W. Smith
Yes You Have- Leeland & Bronlee

I’m a fan of Pedro The Lion, so I’ve arranged this hymn in that style with a cool little instrumental that I’m sure I’ve stolen from somebody. You can listen and download a free copy of it from my myspace page and let me know who I’m “borrowing” it from.

The rest of the set was fine. My highlight was playing the new Tomlin song for the first time (surprise). I think the church was most engaged during Agnus Dei. What song engaged you last weekend?

  1. There are so many songs that engage me, but from this past week I would have to choose Your Love is Extravagant. Extravagant, intimate, intoxicating–words that are descriptive and emotional, yet still do no justice for how much Love Christ pours out for us. We are extravagant when we want to prove beyond a doubt our commitment and love. Christ did even more then that on the cross for us. He not only proved it, He delivered something to us that goes even beyond extravagant! It is so much that way that we are astounded by His friendship.

For me that song is a reminder that God more then extravagantly poured upon me something I did not deserve, because He desired a relationship with me, when I did not deserve it. That is something only Love can do–deliver something completely undeserved that is so extravagant that it creates intimacy and friendship.
